I’ve been meaning to cobble together a new site for a long time, and I finally got around to it last weekend. I was the most decent client ever.
As you can see, I decided to start a blog. The plan is that it will give me a focus for learning new stuff. The content will mostly be related to programming or technology, but I’ll probably throw in a random post every now and again.
When I was choosing what blogging platform to build my site upon, I had a good look at all the well-known options. I was particularly interested in checking the ASP.NET offerings, such as SubText, DasBlog & BlogEngine.NET. Though they are decent platforms and would provide everything I’d need for a simple blog, I just couldn’t bring myself to choose them over Wordpress, even if it meant using PHP.
This was my first Wordpress implementation and apart from a few minor irritants (finding out where to edit code templates, some curious function names), I love it. It’s not a CMS, but for it’s intended purpose it’s a cool product.
